MY CANADIAN HIDDEN GEM
In Partnership With my Friends at Expedia.ca
Expedia.ca recently reached out to me with a question – "how far off the beaten track had I explored in Canada?" It was a question that made me realize that, as much as I love nature and unwinding, with the exception of cottage getaways, I've really only travelled to the big name, fast-paced cities within my own country. I love a chill holiday – laid back Bermuda, sleepy Palm Desert & history rich Crete are some of my faves – but they are all outside of Canada. Hmm, stumped.
But it was a question that I appreciated because it gave me an opportunity to research special & unique places in Canada that had never really occurred to me as travel destinations. It's funny how we often consider "real" trips to be outside our own borders. Using Expedia.ca, I culled a list of Canadian "Hidden Gems": Hornby Island in B.C., Îles-de-la-Madeleine in Quebec, the Bay of Fundy, the list goes on... and on. Of course, I know & appreciate that Canada is a beautiful country but, as I scrolled through the charming inns, pretty B&Bs and impressive grand hotels available to book on the site, I was amazed.
Ultimately, Aaron & I decided that Cape Breton sings to us – the Cabot trail, the coastline, the friendly reputation... the golf (that one's Aaron pick). And so, a kid-free holiday is booked and we will bounce around the island later this month. Using Expedia.ca I was able to book our flight, find hotels and rent a car that will be waiting for us at the airport. I can't wait to share our Canadian "Hidden Gem" Adventure!
