Back in 2005, when blogging was predominantly the domain of techies and mommies, and mostly uncharted territory amongst the style savvy, Anita was busy establishing herself as one of Toronto's (arguably Canada's) first and most prominent online fashion writers. Named a "Toronto Fashion Hero" by Now magazine, among Anita's list of sartorial feats are: two dresses named after her by the design duo Greta Constantine, one of "Toronto's Most Stylish" by the Toronto Star, among the "Worthy 30: Toronto's Most Eligible Ladies" by Shinan Govani at the National Post, and an invitation by Holt Renfrew as one of six bloggers (international superstars Garance Dore, Scott Schuman, Jane Aldridge, Tommy Ton and Bryan Boy rounded out the elite participants) to design a window showcase that was displayed across Canada. A fashion force to be reckoned with, Anita has gained, and held, the attention of fashion watchers not only for her fearless wardrobe but her no-nonsense fashion critique. Here she shares the style moments that she most loves.
Do you prefer to dress for an occasion or for everyday?
Everyday. There is more variety and opportunity to explore. Unless it's a costume party, black tie dressing can be pretty standard.
Would you rather be overdressed or underdressed?
So you have a signature style or do you prefer to keep 'em guessing?
I like to keep 'em guessing. I like too many different things to be forced to choose.
Your all-time favourite outfits:
Mark Fast Body Suit – Power Ball, 2011
Black Halo Dress – Sharp Book for Men launch, 2012
Neon Yellow Zara dress – Rodarte at The Room, 2012
The "Anita" dress by Greta Constantine – My Holt Renfrew Bloggers Windows Launch party, 2009.
What would you buy with an unexpected windfall?
Moncler S jacket. Ideally at the NYC Moncler store but Holt Renfrew is a Toronto option.
Heels or Flats?
Heels all the way.
Will You suffer for fashion or should it be comfortable? Is there an occassion that you will break this rule?
I will accept a little discomfort for fashion but I'm no Anna dello Russo.
Always stylish or does even fashion need to take a break?
I always try to be stylish in public but anything goes behind closed doors.
Team Anna (Wintour) or Team Carine (Roitfeld)
Hmm, neither to be honest. They are the different sides of the same corporate fashion coin to me. However, I do like Carine's style better than Anna's.
