There are always prints going on, on at least two garments.

This Toronto expat has resided in Paris for the last decade and her eponymous label is lauded by the notoriously critical fashion set as beautifully crafted, modern and easy to wear. The Parsons grad boast an impressive laundry list of professional appointments and prestigious accolades: working with Olivier Theyskens at Rochas and Nina Ricci, being named a finalist at ANDAM (France's most respected prize for young fashion designers) and a Dorchester Fashion finalist are among the notches on her (fashionable) belt. Calla shares her thoughts on Personal Style withThe Style House.

Do you prefer to dress for an occasion or for everyday?

It's really nice to dress for an occasion. It adds importance to the event and, maybe even, some extra memories.

Would you rather be overdressed or underdressed?

People in Paris are usually so underdressed. When going out I'd rather be overdressed. it adds something special to the event... And I think that it shows a kind of respect as well.

Do you have a signature style or do you prefer to keep 'em guessing?

In the everyday I have a tomboy style of skinny jeans, t-shirts and moccasins. There are always prints going on , on at least two garments!

Your all-time favourite outfits:

I was lucky enough to have two wedding dresses. One designed by Olivier Theyskens in our last days at Rochas for our celebration in Canada (I designed the fabric) and a short dress for the civil ceremony in Paris designed by Robert Normand.

Your top three celeb style moments:

Julia Roberts wearing an Armani suit [Golden Globes, 1992]. I think this was my first real conscious fashion moment of matching designer to celebrity to fashion trend. I was obsessed! Going back and finding images, I'. a bit embarrassed!

Princess Diana wearing Zandra Rhodes – one of my favourite style icons wearing on of my favourite designers.

Kate Bosworth walking down the street wearing anything! I ove her style. She always looks amazing!

What would you buy with an unexpected windfall?

Shoes & bags at the Miu Miu shop on rue St. Honoré.

Vintage shop Alaïa and Zandra Rhodes on 1stDibs.com

Candles at Diptyque on rue Franc Bourgeois.

Heels or flats?

Heels if you can guarantee me minimal walking and taxis all night.

Will you suffer for fashion or should it be comfortable? Is there an occasion that you will break this rule?

I really think it's important to be comfortable. You'll look better if you're at ease in your clothes and have a better time. The mandate of CALLA is that the clothes are special and unique but comfortable and easy to wear – these things are really important to me in deciding how to dress.

Always stylish or does even fashion need to take a break? Any exceptions?

Always stylish! Jeans and a t-shirt are stylish!

Team Anna (Wintour) or Team Carine ( Roitfeld)?

Can't we all be friends?
