Right before I go out on stage, I like to listen to music I can groove to. On my pre-performance playlist, I usually include one or two songs from the piece I’m dancing in (just in case I have to go over some choreography last minute) but I listen mostly to stuff that gets my stank face going. I have a very short attention span, so I like to rotate between electronic songs and more acoustic ones. My Dad’s old favourites always seem to make their way onto my playlist to. Anything that gets my bones rattling is a pretty safe bet.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, and trained at Boston Ballet School and The School of The Hamburg Ballet, Dylan joined The National Ballet of Canada as a RBC Apprentice in 2009, joined the Corps de Ballet in 2010 and was promoted to Second Soloist in 2013.

Boasting an amazing repertoire that includes the role of the White Rabbit in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Stanislav in Nijinsky, Benvolio in Romeo and Juliet, as well as lead roles in Theme and Variations and Mozartiana, Dylan has also performed in, a few productions you may have heard of, such as The Sleeping BeautySwan LakeGiselleThe Nutcracker, HamletCarmen, the second detail, West Side Story SuiteChroma and Russian Seasons.

This summer, Dylan will dance in the National Ballet’s mixed programme, Physical Thinking, as well as Cinderella by James Kudelka and Romeo and Juliet by Alexei Ratmansky.

The National Ballet’s Summer Season runs May 28 – June 22, 2014 at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts.
