Industry Insider Interview with Jaclyn Genovese

It’s no small feat to stand out from the multitude of über-trendy fashion boutiques along Queen West, but under the direction of owner Jacklyn Genovese, with it’s blend of fashion, music and glam factor, Jacflash has managed to become not only one of the hottest shopping destinations along the strip but in

Your inspiration… Traveling, looking at different styles at different stores, as well as checking out a lot of blogs and websites. My favourites right now are,, and Fashion Tricks… Pair something inexpensive with something of higher quality. Like a pair of Nikki B zipper leggings and basic white tee with some Modern Vintage ankle boots and a transit blazer. By pairing some affordable basics with a few items that are more expensive (and therefore better quality, better fit, nicer details etc…) it makes you look like a million bucks without spending a fortune! Current Obsessions… I love chunky jewelry- big rings, layering bracelets, chunky shoes with dainty dresses or with skinny pants. I also love “do it yourself” clothing– I just put gold buttons down my black American apparel skirt and I cut holes in my black leggings (in the pic above I am wearing a men’s transit shirt from jacflash with some leggings I cut up) I also like pairing vintage with jacflash clothing. (I Miss you Vintage on Ossington is my favourite vintage store as well as Vintage 69).

Ultimate Fashion Entourage… Rumi Neely, the Olsens, Kate Bosworth and one of my best girlfriends Shenae Grimes– she has amazing style, isn’t afraid to take chances and always looks hot and amazing. I also love the ‘60s style like Edie Sedwick, France Gall, Twiggy….

Classic or Trendy… I would say that I am a mix in between. I like wearing more classic outfits and using accessories to funk them up like with shoes, a cool blazer, chunky jewelry or a cool scarf etc… Street Style or Runway… I like street style but runway is good to see the up-and-coming trends.
