Co-Founder & President, Rent Frock Repeat.
In 2010, Kristy Wieber and Lisa Delorme created Rent Frock Repeat to fill a void in the Canadian marketplace and offer designer options at reasonable prices – without commitment. Today this business is growing at a staggering rate and fashion lovers and media have taken notice. Kristy's credits her success to "...the RFR Member community. They are supportive, engaging, caring, open with feedback and our absolute champions. They love sharing RFR with their friends and we couldn’t be more appreciative." Here's what she has to say about her personal style.
As told to Amanda Cross
Do you have a signature style or do you prefer to keep 'em guessing?
I wouldn’t say I have a signature style because I really like to dress for my mood. One day, it might be bohemian, the next day, edgy, then on to retro. However, I would consider myself to have a signature colour palette. My friends would tell you that it consists of any shade of grey, soft pinks, corals, or any neutral. My business partner, Lisa, has actually banned me from buying any more grey clothing.
Heels or flats?
Heels only when necessary and not for very long. I’m 5’3” on a good day, so I like the height, but comfort usually wins out in the end. I’ll wear a low-heeled boot or my Converse on a daily basis. Wedges are a great compromise.
What's in your purse?
The better question would be “What’s NOT in your purse?” I try to keep it lean, but I also like to be prepared. After 20 years in cosmetics, it’s hard to let go of having a giant makeup bag at your fingertips, but I’m working on it. Between that and my giant, George Castanza, there’s only room left for my phone charger, some headphones, Advil and Papaya Enzyme tablets.
What makes Rent Frock Repeat a success?
Without a doubt, it’s the RfR Member community. They are supportive, engaging, caring, open with feedback and our absolute champions. They love sharing RfR with their friends and we couldn’t be more appreciative of it.
Do you prefer to dress for an occasion or for everyday?
Owning a dress rental company, you would think it would be dressing for an occasion, but I’m often found in jeans and a T-shirt. Although I LOVE a gorgeous dress, my favourite piece of clothing is probably my worn-in Levi’s. The good news is, when I need a great dress, I have quite the closet at my fingertips.
Your top three renting gowns:
1. David Meister Black One Shoulder Gown with Diagonal Sequins
2. Greta Constantine Violet Long Sleeve Gown
3. David Dixon Black Ball Gown with Leather Paillettes
Would you rather be overdressed or underdressed?
Always stylish or does even fashion need to take a break?
I don’t really think about it too much. I’m always ME. Some days are more fashionable than others, I’m sure. Some days I barely have time to brush my teeth as I’m heading out the door.
