A Chartered Accountant by day, fashion blogger by night and wife & mom around the clock... As if that wasn't enough, Sharon may now add award winner to her lengthy list of accomplishments after taking home the honours for Best Beauty or Fashion Blog at the P&G Beauty & Grooming Awards 2012. With her sister Tara Ng (stay tuned for her interview in Chic Ultime), this style maven offers a glamorous backstage peek at Canadian fashion and events and her ability to work a wardrobe is revered among her peers and fellow clotheshorses.
Do you prefer to dress for an occasion or for everyday?
I'm a mom and an accountant and neither role calls for particularly fabulous garb, so I relish any opportunity to dress up.
Would you rather be overdressed or underdressed?
Overdressed, which is why I perpetually am.
Do you have a signature style or do you prefer keep 'em guessing?
I tend to think that I have more sartorial range than maybe I actually do. There’s a definite formula to my dressing: sharp blazers + chic blouses + statement shoes + Chanel bags + leather, leather and more leather.
Your all-time favourite outfits:
Erdem blouse + J.Crew skirt + Nicholas Kirkwood for Erdem pumps + Chanel bag to Massimo Dutti press preview.
VAWK sheer blouse with leather bib + VAWK teal pants + OBJECT for Danier clutch + Alexander Wang silver shoes to Toronto Fashion Week.
VAWK wool jacket with fur trim + VAWK perforated suede tank top + Elise Overland leather pants + Alexander McQueen winged booties + Chanel bag to Toronto Fashion Week.
Your top 3 celeb style moments:
Michelle Williams in canary yellow Vera Wang at 2006 Academy Awards; January Jones in Carolina Herrara Pre-Fall 2011 at the 2011 Screen Actors Guild Awards; Emma Stone in Tom Ford Fall 2011 at the 'Crazy, Stupid, Love' World Premiere
What would you buy with an unexpected windfall?
You didn't say how much this windfall is, but I'd definitely want to buy: a Burberry Prorsum statement trench coat, a Mary Katrantzou printed dress, a Chanel python 2.55 in the largest size available, a Maryam Keyhani necklace, a Greta Constantine jersey dress, a pair of Roger Vivier Rendez-Vous collection couture shoes, an Erdem dress, and the entire VAWK Fall 2012 collection. Basically, I would shop everywhere; I’m an equal opportunity shopper. But I would definitely start at The Room, then on to Barneys.
Heels or flats?
Heels - the higher, the better. But within reason, of course. I don't wear stilettos to the park with my son; it’s tough (though not impossible) to climb the monkey bars in Nicholas Kirkwood platform booties.
Will you suffer for fashion or should it be comfortable? Is there an occasion that you will break this rule?
I suffer on a regular basis for fashion, frequently teetering in sky-high platform shoes or barely able to breathe in my Spanx.
Always stylish or does even fashion need to take a break?
I've been caught wearing a Lululemon tracksuit or flat shoes on occasion; there may even be pictorial evidence. Everyone needs a break from being chic sometimes, especially when you’re the mother to a toddler boy. If Anna Dello Russo can admit to wearing Abercrombie & Fitch behind closed doors, then so can I.
